In the automatic assembly line, there are many kinds of instruments and meters. They are the regulating system of the automatic assembly line, and are instruments or equipment used to detect, measure, observe, and calculate various physical quantities, material compositions, physical parameters, etc. All these instruments, meters or equipment need various sensors to play their roles, among which optical fiber sensors are commonly used.
The optical fiber cable used in the automatic assembly line is composed of a bundle of glass fibers or one or several synthetic fibers. Optical fiber can conduct light from one place to another, even around corners. It works by passing light through an internal reflective medium. The light passes through the optical fiber material with high refractive index and the inner surface of the sheath with low refractive index, thus forming a reflective transmission of light in the optical fiber. The optical fiber consists of a core (high refractive index) and a sheath (low refractive index). In the optical fiber, the light is continuously reflected back and forth to generate total internal reflection, so the light can pass through a curved path.
Optical fiber sensor, referred to as optical fiber sensor, is a kind of sensor with rapid development at present and has been widely used in automatic assembly line production. Optical fiber can not only be used as optical wave transmission medium in long-distance communication applications, but also when light propagates in optical fiber, the characteristic parameters (such as amplitude, phase, polarization state, wavelength, etc.) characterizing light waves will change indirectly or directly due to external factors (such as temperature, pressure, magnetic field, electric field, displacement, etc.), so optical fiber can be used as a sensing element to detect various indicators to be measured.
Optical fiber is a cylinder with multilayer dielectric structure, which is made of quartz glass or plastic. In automatic assembly line production, the following matters shall be paid attention to when using optical fiber sensors:
- Installation:
In the design and production of automatic assembly line, photoelectric sensors must not interfere with each other, and they must maintain a certain Z small distance. The Z small distance is mainly determined by the sensor sensitivity. For sensors using optical fiber, this distance is mainly determined by the type of optical fiber used. Therefore, you cannot specify a specific value.
- Positioning.
For reflective sensors, first place the receiver at the desired position and fix it. Then align the transmitter with the receiver as precisely as possible. For reflective sensor, first place the reflector at the required position and fix it. Cover the reflector so that only the center part is exposed. Install the reflective sensor in the proper position to make it work normally. After Z, remove the cover on the reflector. Diffuse sensor: align the sensor with the object to make it work normally. In order to ensure its normal and reliable operation, a working margin must be reserved. Due to the influence of dust, change of reflectivity of objects or aging of emission diodes, the working margin will gradually decrease over time, or even cannot work normally. Some automated pipeline sensors are equipped with LED (green) display, which lights up when 80% of the effective working range of the sensor is used. Other automatic pipeline sensors are equipped with a yellow LED display to indicate alarm when the working margin is insufficient. These can be used to prevent the occurrence of automatic pipeline misoperation.
